Overview

Back in 2016, the founders of NewtonX discovered their roadblock was a major opportunity: they needed to quickly find subject-matter experts, arrange in-person interviews, and deliver surveys. It didn’t take them long to realize that the only solutions available were manual, and not much more efficient than scrolling through a list of contacts and making calls.

Diving head-first into the problem, they created an efficient process for connecting companies to specialized consultants and launched NewtonX. Their platform serves fields ranging from quantum computing to fashion specialities, so they came to Big Human looking for a custom solution to match their custom client requests.

Helping NewtonX better-connect clients to consultants was our main goal, so understanding and improving this experience was vital. A refreshed logo and website content design also helped NewtonX communicate their swift, technology-first process that differentiates them from their competitors.

BRAND DESIGN

Polishing the Brand’s Look & Feel

Creating a new logo from scratch could be a disservice to the brand’s equity, but we wanted to elevate the visual style during the redesign. At its core, our goal was to achieve a design that’s sleek, trustworthy, and forward-thinking. The logo shifted from a sky blue color to black, a simple yet effective change that establishes the brand as strong and authoritative.

To give the site more character and emphasize its modern feel, we introduced a lively ‘internet blue’ as a design element. It was also important to balance the tech-forward feel of the site with more human and playful elements, such as the illustrations. Overall, the NewtonX designs tell the story of connecting people through technology.

Creating an Experience Fit for Two Distinct Audiences

Creating a website that’s functional for two distinct audiences with two distinct objectives was our first challenge. For NewtonX clients, the ability to seamlessly discover and schedule consultants was key, and for consultants, building their profile and managing jobs was a top priority.

Because these needs were so distinct, our solution included a homepage that immediately guides users to the most relevant information and functionality based on whether they are an expert, or whether they need an expert.

During the design phase, it became clear that it was not only important to swiftly connect users to the experts they’re looking for, but it’s equally important to make sure they’re available when users need them. We designed a seamless scheduling experience that makes it easier to submit complex requests and swiftly connect to available experts.

A Refreshed Web Design

Finally, we topped it off with a polished website design that elevates the NewtonX brand to match its innovative and unique position among competitors. The clean layout of the website’s content reflects NewtonX’s ability to swiftly create connections that would be impossible to find on your own.

RESULTS

A Successful Round of Fundraising

Following the redesign of their website, the biggest priority for NewtonX was fundraising. With an improved product design making the experience easy and seamless for users, NewtonX was able to raise $12M in June 2019.
